I am equally a poet and a visual artist. My artistic career has been a journey of lost and found. Veering away from creating to pursue traditional education, I became a chartered Landscape Architect in my early adult life only to find myself once more holding pens and paint brushes in my mid 20s.
With every poem I wrote and read out loud to the hours spent painting, I found a place where I truly belonged and could authentically express myself. My belonging is strengthened by my learning of my family back in Myanmar, who too were artists, poets, writers, musicians and philosophers. The realisation of their creativity as I pursued mine only nourished and fortified the decision that a life dedicated to artistic expression is the path I would take.

listening ~ conversing ~ fast intuitions ~ grounding ~
My creative actions come often through fast intuitions, which I distill in a steady pace of conversing with something higher and with the piece itself. As a devout Buddhist, I dedicate time to pray and it is the practice of my religion that connects me spiritually to my art. To finish the work at hand, rooted in grounding myself in the mundane acts of creating, there is a sense of presence and intention in my work and the decision to slow down to really hear.
Not rushing but taking time in the art and poetry to contemplate, to listen and to keep conversing is what makes my work sustainable. I strive for art that is timeless across the years.
I did not see my family’s poetry, writings and artworks, nor hear their songs back in Myanmar as by the time I found out, many of their works have been lost and they too have passed away. My prayer is to make art with messages that they would have wanted to carry on sharing had they lived on and continued. My prayer is also to make art that aligns with our human nature and our highest self.
Stories of Us
Each painting and poem tells stories of the trials and tribulations, of the elations, of the spiritual, of emotions, of the mundane and of the experiences in reincarnating as a human. The pieces are as broad as they are specific and together they trace the lines of my lineage with strong messages to the participant to take part in their own stories too- with a bit more bravery and connectedness to themselves and to something bigger.
